I’d like to thank all veterans of the US Armed Forces for their service to this great nation. It is their sacrifice which allows the rest of us to enjoy the freedoms we take for granted on a daily basis. Again, thank you.

The Detroit area has been graced with its first snow fall of the 2008-09 Winter season! Of course it wasn’t much. Just a dusting that did not stick on the roads or sidewalks. Although I did hear of a few reports from folk at work that the highways had become icy in spots. I snapped this picture with the BlackBerry at work for your enjoyment!

I’m SO glad the election is over. The American political regime is such a sham; has been for quite a long time. Frankly I’m not sure it matters who wins anymore. We all know that special interest groups run the country. The person/group with the most money to throw around, gets what they want. So much for Democracy. At least I won’t have to endure all of the bullshit advertising campaigns for a few years.
I suppose it really boils down to this fact: I’ve lost all faith in the American government to do anything useful or productive. The only two things the government excels at is hemorrhaging money and meddling in the affairs of the rest of the world. The American economic engine is severely broken. The government’s solution? Throw $700 billion of tax payer money at the financial institutions in this country. How about a fix, instead of a band-aid?
Next presidential election, I’m voting for Jack Bauer.
I recently purchased a second EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX SSC to run it in a SLI configuration with the first EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX SSC I already had. It was when I installed the new video card and enabled SLI that my heart sank. Only 1 display can be used when SLI is enabled, I have 3 displays. Moving from 3 displays down to 1 was something I came to terms with. After all, I wanted SLI.
I decided to perform some further investigating. What I found: NVIDIA currently has drivers in beta that support multiple displays when is SLI is enabled. Hurray! I now have a dual display configuration once again. I can live with 2 displays, but 3 displays are REALLY nice. The second display gives me a place to throw things which I like to keep an eye on. Applications such as the Trillian Astra chat client, the Windows Vista sidebar, and twhirl all find a home on the second display.
Edit: Here is a great article regarding the new 180.xx beta drivers from NVIDIA over at PC Perspective.
